Planning a trip to see the cherry blossoms in Tsushima? While spring is a beautiful time to visit, there are a few things you should know about the weather to ensure a comfortable trip.
Because Tsushima is an island located at a higher latitude, the sea breeze can be quite strong and chilly, even when the sun is out. In late March, the daytime temperature might feel pleasant, but it drops significantly as soon as the sun goes down.
If you are planning to enjoy the night-time cherry blossom illumination in the Mitsushima area, layering is key. We highly recommend bringing:
- A windbreaker or light jacket: Essential to block the ocean breeze.
- A warm sweater or fleece: To wear underneath your jacket during the chilly evenings.
- Comfortable walking shoes: Many of the best “Sakura” spots are in parks or near shrines with uneven paths.
Being prepared for the temperature change will let you focus on the breathtaking views of the blossoms. We look forward to seeing you in Tsushima this spring!
